Quilled Holiday Tree Cards

Quilling is the art of coiling thin strips of paper into a tight circle. If you take a bunch of quilled paper and arrange it into a triangle, it kind of looks like a holiday tree! This project creates a lovely greeting card that can be given to a parent, family member or friend. All that's needed is a bunch of paper (such as scrap paper from previous projects), some glue and a toothpick to help with coiling. This is a great project for elementary school-aged children.

Shrink Art Snow Blow Ornament Craft

This is a craft that puts yourself in the middle of a snow storm for another ornament to decorate your holiday tree. With this craft, draw a self-portrait on some shrink art paper, shrink the paper down in the oven, and insert into a clear, plastic ornament with fake snow. You can also draw elements of your environment, such as trees, buildings and animals, to help set a little scene.

Paint Scrape Christmas Tree Art

Paint scraping is a simple technique with a super cool final effect. Because you can create a whole bunch in a short time period, this is a great craft to sneak into a larger project, such as holiday-themed garland or a mobile. As a technique, paint scraping is also versatile. You don't have to stop at holiday trees—you can also use paint scraping to decorate holiday wreaths, holiday stars and a variety of other shapes!
